Centmin Mod project is growing up. The latest .06 release added support for Oracle Linux OS and the 2.6.39 and 3.8.13 UEK kernels – so Centmin Mod can be used on both CentOS and Oracle Linux based servers. Centmin Mod .07 release should include Phusion Passenger + Nginx support along with with GeoIP Nginx module support.
For future releases, I posted a preview on Centmin Mod blog about upcoming new improvements to the Nginx vhost domain setup menu functions. These improvements include:
- Extending the Add Nginx vhost domain menu option #2 to featuring a sub menu to allow the choice between a new fully chrooted SCP+SFTP only or SSH+SCP+SFTP only user account or choosing the current method of Centmin Mod Nginx vhost account setup. Chrooted user environment is setup using Jailkit. Full background and screenshot previews are outlined on the Centmin Mod blog.
- Adding a WordPress auto installer routine at Nginx vhost setup time. The auto installer routine uses the WP-CLI.org command line tool to do the heavy lifting including auto installation and activation of recommended WordPress plugins. The auto installer also has an option to auto install, activate and setup WordPress Super Cache plugin out of the box for better WordPress performance.
